I’m thinking of going to FiveM instead of the usual Rockstar online mode, since everything is overpriced and usually people are greedy and toxic. So I was thinking does the FiveM mode still require the same amount of grinding I kept on doing or can I just drop money?
FiveM is simply a framework for people to build upon, by default theres nothing on a server. People can make custom servers such as ones like Zombie server and 
servers, no one has made a “GTA: Online-esque server” yet, but if you host your own server you can always fuck about with anything

If you’re looking for GTA-like play you’re going to be shocked when you do start joining servers. The playstyle is not not even a tiny bit similar. 99 percent of the servers you join will be roleplaying servers, which, if you’re not familiar, will involve you living a mundane digital existence, which I have to assume is designed to make you feel better about your actual life. On a standard RP server, you’ll die if you don’t drink and eat items you have to go to a store for, you’ll have to get a license to drive, which once you have, will allow you to get pulled over by a cop(who’s ratio to non-cops is roughly 3-1) for not coming to a complete stop before making a right at a traffic signal. You will be able to get a job as a garbage man, allowing you to drive from point to point while obeying traffic signals, to points around the city to retrieve refuse so you can receive your pay.
The other 1 percent will be deathmatch or drifting, offering buggy playstyle. I run a server with missions, chop shop, peds dropping money and similar but it’s still nowhere near the polish and features of GTA:O.
In conclusion, if you want GTA:O like play, you should play GTA:O.

Disregard the test servers and account for the fact that the majority of the test servers are working towards a form of RP and my numbers are spot on
