I’m not new to GTA V, but I am new to FiveM. I’m trying to install FiveM so I can play with others, but when I do install, well attempt at least, it gives me this error message “an access denied error was encountered when updating FiveM. Please try to run the game as an Administrator, or contact support.”
Before I get flamed lol, I’ve tried running the game as Administrator many times. My Windows User is Admin, so now I’m just desperately seeking help. I CANT ANSWER ALL SPECS OF THE FORMAT!

Up to date? Yes
Legit or Pirate copy? Legit
Steam/CD/Social Club? Digital/Social Club (Digital is a code bought from Gamestop, entered the Code, game installed.
Windows version? 10
Did you try to disable/uninstall your Anti-virus? Yes
Did you try to delete caches.xml and try again? No

You did not provide your GTA V folder or the other folders, please do this first.

I cannot confirm nor deny a fix, however I have a theory.
Your Grand Theft Auto V folder is most definitely modified. From what I recall, FiveM requires a fresh copy of your game. No modifications typically leads to no issues.
I would advise towards downloading a fresh copy of Grand Theft Auto V. Also, be sure to move the modified Grand Theft Auto V folder out of your steam directory.
Modified? You mean modded with things like LSPDFR? Cant I just remove the Mods instead of downloading a new GTA which would take forever …?

So remove every Mod I have installed … even RageHook … and then if it finally installs, I can reinstall them? Because if I’m correct, every LSPDFR Youtuber has mods installed & FiveM.
They don’t, as it wont work. Your FiveM GTA cannot ever be modified unless under certain circumstances such as a clan pack.
I suggest having 2 separate installions of GTAV. One for FiveM, one for other mods such as LSPDFR.

I don’t need LSPDFR. I only have 4 Mods, LSPDFR, RageHook, ELS and Simple Trainer installed in the game … i can delete all those. That would save me time from reinstalling right ?
You can try that, however if it does not fix your issue, you will need to reinstall your game.
How exactly do I reinstall my game when it wasn’t bought off Steam nor is it a CD. It was a code bought from a gamestop (Digitally Code) that i put in on Social Club. If I delete it would I need another Code or since I have it on that certain SC Account, I can just click a reinstall button.
Go to social club, log in, and download it from there.
I’ve deleted every single mod I had. OpenIV and all … still getting the same error. This makes no sense.
Then you need to reinstall your Grand Theft Auto V.

ARE YOU POSITIVE that will work?!! I don’t want to waste my time. Somebody on Youtube said they redownloaded and all, and it still wasn’t working.
