FXServer crash on client console command

I ran a clean install of the newest FXServer from the date of this post and if i logged into the server and typed “say hey” in the client console, it would crash the server immediatly. It is a constant issue and I do not have any resources enabled at all (Besides the standard ones).

I’ve gotten this too. After getting it too many times I decided to post about it and then reinstall mono (instructions on the MONO website). I haven’t gotten this error since I updated mono but it has been only a couple of hours.

Unfortunatly this does not solve the issue, I was at mono version 4.0.1 and now I am at mono version 5.2. Same issue, the server crashes once a client puts in a command “say hey” in the client console.

This one is a tad hard to repro, as it does not happen in all cases the server is running - sometimes say works fine, sometimes it will actually crash like this.

It is, however, a known issue.

It doesn’t crash for me when I use the console command say it only happens randomly.

I’m getting this issue right now, using the latest Ubuntu 16.04, tried to use the last 5 linux artifacts builds and keep getting the same issue. Every time I try a command that is registered using RegisterCommand() it tells me caught bad_any_cast in command handler for <commandName>

Anyone have an idea of what I’m doing wrong/I’m missing?

presumably nothing, this somehow randomly happens and sadly std::any debugging info is non-existent/annoying and doesn’t show the actual type of the any

Hmm well I’ll have to modify all my commands to be recognized using the chat event then I’m afraid. I’ll try to figure something out. thanks for the reply.

… is this on Linux? There seems to be an issue in Linux compilers’ implementations of std::any that makes it unsuitable for the way CitizenFX is using it…

… which means we’d have to replace std::any with something else.

Yeah I’m having that issue on linux. 2 separate VM’s running the latest version of Ubuntu 16.04 both have the same issue, joining a friends’ server who’s also running linux (not sure which distro) gives me the same error when using /say

makes sense then, a future update to the codebase will fix this by removing the use of std::any.

Yeah my windows server is fine. Only on Linux it’s buggy… Just like the issue where a server running in Linux for about a day without anyone joining makes the server stop responding when you try to join… Only happens on Linux Anyway thanks for the future fix
